A Video Of My Daughter Sakina's Speech On

A video of my daughter Sakina's speech on teen depression. I was reluctant because of the sensitivity of the issue. In this she speaks on behalf of her friends, other students and herself on the issue of depression in students.

Since she opened up, showed her vulnerability, and after having seen how well it was accepted, her confidence is slowly growing. It took her a lot of courage initially, to go up on stage to speak in front of so many people with her face and body still covered with eczema. ( I am not saying this to blow her trumpet or to gain any sympathy in any way.. Saying it as it is. She is my child and I am proud of every small achievement) She is now ready to show it on social media. Being visible to the world where not everyone agrees with you and not everyone is a friend or well wisher is not the most easiest thing. Speaking up comes naturally to some but for some it requires great courage.

I am posting these videos with her permission. She hopes it can help someone to come out in the open as well. She would love to hear your feedback and is happy to hear from any teens or children who have gone through some tough times, who want share their story or is in need of a listening ear.

This is the shortened video of her first speech given at the hospital auditorium in front of much smaller crowd of 60 plus people. It was the first time she ever spoke on a stage and it was this is the video that got sent to the higher authorities in student welfare of the education ministry.
Based on this she was invited to speak again in front of a much larger crowd.
Some of the content is both speeches is similar because they wanted her to repeat it again for that different crowd. Hope her words create some awareness to someone here. They were written by her and are purely in her words.

Sakina's speech is completely in English but the small introduction before her speech is in Malaysia's national language Malay.

I apologize that the video is shaky, my hand was not steady and the zooming in and out was to get her slides in the video. ???? #teen #teenage #teendepression
